Telegraphy
3 ways it's similar to the Internet:
-Information is encoded when sent and translated by the receiver
-Allows information to be transmitted faster and longer distances;promotes globalization.
-Could be used to gather various news items; early form of a news feed
3 ways it's different:
-Manual translation and understanding of Morse code is needed rather than a browser translating the information for you
-Sequence of dots and dashes used with telegraph while binary code is used for memory in computers.
-Telgraph can only primarily transmit text based messages
1 fun fact:
-Then telegraph was widely used until 1877 when it was replaced by the telephone
